Dr. Pao’s journey commenced with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Graduating Magna Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985, he pursued his medical aspirations at the prestigious Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Subsequently, he underwent rigorous training in internal medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center and completed a residency in radiation oncology at Columbia University, where he served as Chief Resident in 1993.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pao has been unwavering in his dedication to enhancing cancer care, particularly for patients afflicted with prostate and bladder cancer. As the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at esteemed institutions such as those part of the NY Presbyterian Columbia & Cornell system, he consistently strives to integrate the latest advancements in scientific knowledge with compassionate patient care.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Pao has been a steadfast advocate for scientific advancements and clinical research. His contributions include research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fort Detrick, and the Naval Research Laboratory. Additionally, he has served on the RTOG (now known as NRG) Urology Committee, a past commitment that has allowed him to engage in research on innovative approaches such as brachytherapy. His numerous lifetime findings have been presented at prestigious conferences, inspiring countless colleagues and students in the field.

Dr. Pao’s influence extends far beyond his professional responsibilities. He actively participates in professional organizations such as the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO). As the Colorado representative for these medical societies, he has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and programs that enhance patient care nationwide. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Fellowship to the ACR (FACR) and the Fellowship to the ASTRO (FASTRO).

Dr. Pao’s dedication to both medicine and the arts has been widely acknowledged. He has been recognized as a Top Doc by Denver’s 5280 Magazine and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

Since being an adventurous Cub Scout, he has enjoyed hiking and camping in most of the National Parks and some of the State Parks.
