Dr. Dayne Nelson practices general urology and specializes in minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery to treat a wide range of urological conditions. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of various cancers, including kidney, prostate, and bladder cancer, as well as the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia/BPH. Dr. Nelson’s areas of specialty also include no-scalpel vasectomy, reconstructive surgery, and male sexual health. Dr. Nelson also utilizes cutting-edge procedures for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones.
Dr. Nelson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his medical doctorate at the Uniformed Services University, and completed his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He continued to practice urology as Chief of Urology at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, before becoming a Proctor at Intuitive Surgical. He moved to Colorado in 2014, becoming the Chief of Robotic Surgery at Evans Army Community Hospital in Colorado Springs. Dr. Nelson went on to establish the first urology clinic in Castle Rock, CO in 2017 before joining Colorado Urology in the fall of 2021.
Certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Nelson was awarded the prestigious “Young Urologist of the Year” award by the American Urological Association in 2013. The quality of his care has also been recognized by his patients as he was ranked in the top 5th percentile of the Press Gainey Satisfaction Survey in 2020.
Dr. Nelson strives to form strong relationships with his patients using clear communication, patient advocacy, and accessibility. His goal is to build trusting and compassionate relationships with patients while providing advanced and skilled urological surgery and care. He believes his principal role is to provide the patient with accurate information about their diagnosis, which includes defining various treatment options.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children while hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and attending sporting and performance arts events and concerts. He is an avid fan of all things Fighting Irish.
