Calvin D. Lewis, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist specializing in prostate cancer therapy. Dr. Lewis obtained his Bachelor of Science in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2011. He completed his MD and PhD in Bio-Organic Chemistry and Medicine at the same institution in 2017. Dr. Lewis completed his residency at Saint Louis University, served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine (WashU), and later became Chief Resident for the University of Iowa Department of Radiation Oncology in 2022. Before joining our Colorado Urology team, Dr. Lewis was a physician-scientist faculty member at WashU Department of Radiation Oncology. While at WashU, Dr. Lewis focused on translational cancer research and provided clinical support for the genitourinary and theranostics services. After conducting impactful research in the laboratory, Dr. Lewis transitioned to clinical care, where he could directly impact patients' lives. Dr. Lewis brings a unique perspective to his practice, combining cutting-edge scientific knowledge with compassionate patient care. Dr. Lewis feels deeply honored to support and guide patients through their cancer journeys. His passion for patient care is matched by a commitment to improving outcomes for those affected by cancer.
Research
Dr. Lewis conducted research to identify new targets for treating cancer and develop specific treatments, including radioimmunoconjugates (RICs) and antibody conjugates (ADCs). He focused on delivering humanized antibodies attached to imaging radioligands to radiation-inducible antigens in cancer. His research training covered chemical and biochemical studies of DNA and research into developing antibody and peptide therapeutics.
