Telehealth Video Instructions
Welcome to Chesapeake Urology’s new Telehealth Video Visit program! We are pleased to offer this new and convenient service, which allows you the freedom to visit with your provider at a time and location of your choice. We know how valuable your time is and that your schedule varies. We hope that this new appointment service will make it easier and more convenient for you to meet with your provider and to take good care of your health.
Preparing For Your Telehealth Appointment
- Find an appropriate location. Find a comfortable and quiet location for your appointment. If you are not in a private place, we recommend using a headset with Bluetooth and finding an area that offers privacy for your visit.
- Log in early for your telehealth appointment. We recommend using a smartphone or tablet for your telehealth appointment, but a laptop or computer with a webcam and headset or speakers can also be used.
For Smartphones and Tablets
- Install the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app from the Google Play or Apple App store.
- You will receive an email 15 minutes prior to your visit with the link to join your telehealth video visit.
- Enter your full name when/if prompted (it may have your device’s name filled in by default).
- You will then enter a virtual waiting room. Your provider will be with you shortly.
- When prompted, click the “Join With Video” button.
- Click “Call via Device/Internet Audio.”
For PC or Mac Computers/Laptops
- We recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers for the best experience.
- You will receive an email 15 minutes prior to your visit with the link to join your telehealth video visit.
- A file will automatically download. When the download has completed, run that application by either selecting Run or double-clicking the file. If you already have the ZOOM application installed, the browser may prompt you to “Open Zoom App.”
- Enter your name when/if prompted.
- You will then enter a virtual waiting room. Your provider will be with you shortly.
- In the meantime, click “Test Computer Audio” to ensure your microphone and speaker are working. If your audio is not working, do the following:
- Click the “Join with Computer Audio.”
- Click the “Start Video” button.

Q: What Is a Telehealth Appointment?
A: A telehealth appointment is like an in-person visit, except it is done through a smartphone or webcam. Once logged into ZOOM, you can launch your appointment. Once selected, confirm the details of your visit, and go to the virtual waiting room. Your clinician will start the visit when it is your turn.
Q: How Is Care Delivered?
A: Your provider will develop a treatment plan. When appropriate, your provider will order a prescription. It is the same quality of care as if you were in the office.
Q: How Much Will the Service Cost?
A: Telehealth appointments are processed through your insurance carrier as a regular office visit with your provider. You can expect the same copay and/or coinsurance to apply.
Q: If I Have Any Issues Connecting During the Telehealth Appointment, How Do I Get Help?
A: Our support team has you covered! You can reach them by calling 855-405-7100. If you become disconnected from your provider during your visit, and are unable to reconnect, your provider will call you at the number you provided at the start of the video visit.
Q: Is My Personal Health Information Secure and Protected During a Telehealth Appointment?
A: Yes. telehealth appointments use secure video conferencing technology. The software’s security and confidentiality protocols meet the requirements of HIPAA. Your Video Visit is not recorded. After the visit, you will receive a secure message with a summary of your care instructions.
Q: What Do I Need for Telehealth Video Appointments Other Than a Camera and Microphone?
A: For the best experience, we recommend using Chrome or Firefox as your browser on a desktop for using ZOOM. On a smartphone or tablet, install the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app from the Google Play or Apple App store. You will receive an email 15 minutes prior to your visit with the link to join your telehealth video visit.
Q: Can I Get a Prescription From a Telehealth Appointment?
A: When appropriate, yes. Your provider will determine the best course of action just like an in-person visit. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choosing.
Q: What Happens if I Need to Have Blood Drawn or Some Other Test?
A: Just like in an in-person visit, a lab or imaging will be ordered by your provider, and the order sent to the lab or radiology facility of your choice.
