Dr. Spencer K. Craven is a urologist with a particular interest in robotic surgeries, including prostatectomy and partial nephrectomy. He also specializes in providing minimally invasive treatments for BPH including UroLift®, kidney stones, scrotal and penile surgery, and vasectomy.
Prior to joining Chesapeake Urology, Dr. Craven spent three years at the Urology Clinic of Winchester in Winchester, VA, where he served as Lab Director and specialized in minimally invasive robotic and BPH surgery as well as general urology.
Dr. Craven received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, before attending Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX for medical school, internship (general surgery) and residency (urology). During his residency, he served as a representative on the Scott Department of Urology Admission and Curriculum Committees as well as a resident representative to the American Urological Association (AUA) Resident/Fellow Committee. He was also awarded resident teacher of the year as chief resident.
A member of the American Urological Association (AUA), Dr. Craven has been published in the Journal of Urology and the Journal of Surgical Case Reports. In 2017, he contributed multiple chapters to the Handbook of Prostate Cancer and Other Genitourinary Malignancies. He has been featured as a presenter at multiple AUA Annual Meetings and North American Robotic Urology Symposium Annual Meetings, and also presented at the International Cancer Education Conference.
Dr. Craven is board-certified by the American Board of Urology.
