About This Provider

Dr. Richard Hudes earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, followed by an internship at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, NY. He then completed a four-year residency in radiation oncology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where he also served as chief resident. After his residency, Dr. Hudes joined the faculty at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center and subsequently joined the staff of St. Agnes Hospital.

Board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology, he is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and the American Brachytherapy Society. Dr. Hudes has special expertise in brachytherapy for prostate, breast, and gynecologic malignancies.

Additionally, his clinical interests include image-guided radiation therapy with the Tomotherapy system as well as participation in clinical trials for a variety of cancer types. He is the principal investigator at St. Agnes Hospital for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). Dr. Hudes has authored a chapter on prostate tomotherapy for a medical textbook and co-authored several research papers.

He is a reviewer of scientific manuscripts and participates with national professional societies in healthcare policy analysis. Locally, Dr. Hudes volunteers on committees for the Board of Physicians and the Maryland Department of Environment. Dr. Hudes has also been the program director of the Annual Mid Atlantic Oncology Update since 2001. In 2009 and 2017 Dr. Hudes was named one of “Baltimore’s Top Doctors” by Baltimore magazine.
