Dr. O’Reilly treats all aspects of adult urology. His special interests include minimally invasive surgery, including robotic surgery, the management, and treatment of stone disease, and urinary incontinence in men and women. He also performs the UroLift procedure for the treatment of BPH/enlarged prostate.
Dr. O’Reilly has been practicing urology since 2001. He served in the U.S. Army for 15 years from 1991 until 2006, when he joined Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Maryland as an attending urologist. He joined Chesapeake Urology in January 2013.
During his tenure in the U.S. Army, Dr. O’Reilly was a Lieutenant Colonel and was Chief, Urology Service, and Program Director, Urology Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. In addition, Dr. O’Reilly also served as Medical Director, Madigan Urology Clinical Research Center, and as an assistant professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
Earlier in his military career, Dr. O’Reilly was an attending urologist and assistant residency program director at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and prior to that, he was the general medical officer at Camp Stanley, Korea, and the officer-in-charge at Camp Stanley Troop Medical Clinic. Dr. O’Reilly was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, which is awarded to individuals for heroism, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service, and the prestigious Expert Field Medical Badge, earned by only 15 percent of Army medical personnel.
He has been an investigator in numerous research studies and has published articles in multiple medical journals.
